Deadline approaching for Dean's Office Internship Program
[11.21.2013]
TAMPA, Fla. -- The College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office Internship Program is looking for interns for the upcoming spring semester. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2 to CPR 107. Interviews will take place on campus during Dec. 4-12.
Students have the opportunity to intern in one of seven different areas including: public relations and marketing, news and feature writing, broadcast and video production, photography, social media, graphic design and website design/programming.
Dominique Benjamin, a broadcast intern, has been with the program for four semesters. As a double major studying mass communications and Africana studies, he said this internship has diversified his skills as communicator.
“We're given both the creative freedom and the personal guidance we need to grow as professionals," Benjamin said.
This internship is a great way to build your résumé and portfolio, and a chance to take away knowledge that will help you with your future endeavors.
Michele Dye, the communications and marketing director for CAS, is constantly teaching the interns new skills that will help them succeed in the future. There are guest speakers, workshops and seminars to further their professional development.
"This program is designed for the motivated student who enjoys working in a collaborative, creative setting," Dye said. "It's a fast-paced environment, and you have to be able to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Even though it's a lot of work, we all have a lot of fun, and my former interns have said how much this experience helped them in their current job. I'm proud of the program we've created and remain committed to providing an exceptional internship experience for USF students."
