Interns needed for the College of Arts and Sciences
[03.29.2012]
TAMPA, Fla. -- Are you a great writer? Do you love working with social media or behind a camera? The University of South Florida’s College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Office is looking for enthusiastic and motivated students for their summer and fall internships. There will be an information session on Wednesday, April 4 at 5 p.m. in Cooper Hall (CPR) 471.
Students have the opportunity to intern in five different areas: public relations and marketing, news writing, broadcast/video production, photography and social media.
Interns will have opportunities to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a variety of projects promoting USF. Maryam Saleh, a senior majoring in mass communications focusing on broadcast news, is an intern at the Dean’s Office and said, “The internship has given me a lot of hands-on experience which has expanded on what I have learned in class, and I think this will help me once I start my career.”
Along with the hands-on experience, Michele Dye, communications and marketing director for CAS, is able to bring in business professionals to give insight on what goes on in different areas of marketing and communications. In addition, Dye leads various seminars to give interns the chance to learn new skills.
D’Anna Fiorelli has been an intern at the Dean’s Office for two semesters and said, “Being able to speak with industry professionals Michele brought in helped me get an insider’s prospective on what really goes on in the corporate world.”
If you are interested in pursuing this internship please stop by the informational meeting next week. There will be free pizza provided at the information session along with a chance to meet the current interns who will be sharing their experiences.
The applications are due by April 13 at 5 p.m. to CPR 107.
